Carry-on essentials for a long flight | dcgirlinpearls.com

In exactly 24 hours from when this post goes live (6AM), I’ll be boarding a plane bound for Phoenix, Arizona.

šŸ˜Ž

With DC’s pretty gloomy weekend weather, I’m especially excited to say sayonara and head to the valley of the sun. Just add šŸ¹Ā (Recipe here) and I’m all set.Ā Gah cannot wait to be in the sunshine!!! And eat as many tacos as possible. And In-n-Out. Note to self: Pack workout gear.

But first…a 3AM wakeup call and a four hour flight. Oy vey. I’ve become pretty spoiled in the last few years with my average flight being 50 minutes long. I get on the plane, have a Diet Coke, read a few chapters or doze off and before I know it,Ā we’ve landed. A four hour flight…yikes. I recently flew on a direct flight from Salt Lake City to DC and the first three hours were fine but the last hour, I was ANTSY to say the least. I just had to move. I’m not repeating the same mistakes and packed my carryon with quite a number of activities to keep me from bouncing up and down in my seat out of boredom – counting down the hours until the plane lands.

Books:Ā Yes, Please by Amy Poehler andĀ The Defining DecadeĀ by Meg Jay, PhD

Magazines:Ā Bon Appetit, Living +Ā Real SimpleĀ

Misc:Ā Mandala Coloring Book (Yes, I’m serious – it’s incredibly relaxing)

Podcasts: My podcast feed list

And, of course, I’ve got a blog to-do list to tackle. This should cover four hours, right?
