Happy Monday, friends! It’s pretty easy to be cheerful this Monday…because I’m on vacation! The “Out of office” is up and running and I’m currently exploring colonial Williamsburg with my mom today. We ventured over the weekend to Chincoteague Island to celebrate my mom’s birthday and see the famous Chincoteague ponies. Anyone else read Misty of Chincoteague in grade school?
Okay, before I get into a full-blown play-by-play of my trip to Chincoteague, let’s switch gears and talk about this striped knit dress. You know I’m a fan of a good cotton striped dress (L.L. Bean’s Mariner Striped Dress is a wardrobe staple for me) but I searched high and low for a lighter weight striped knit dress and was foiled several times. I swear, it’s the classic pieces that seem to everywhere…until you are looking for it. This striped dress is my first Madewell piece ever in my closet and I gotta say, I’ve been missing out for years! This dress is light enough to wear in the summer (It was the first piece I packed for my Chincoteague weekend!) and I love the button detailing on the shoulder, it just adds that extra nautical touch. I love throwing this dress on on a lazy Sunday and pairing it with a fun patterned scarf to go for an iced chai run. Since my beloved Bagels ‘n Baguettes on the Hill closed, I’ve started going to Ebenezer’s for my iced chai fix, their vanilla chai is delicious! And 100% necessary on some mornings.
This striped knit dress will definitely remain in heavy rotation through the fall, I’m already thinking about ways to layer it when the temperatures cool. But in the mean time, I’ve got my iced chai in hand and I’m soaking up every moment of Summer 2016.
I’ll post a recap of my visit to Chincoteague next week, you can still see some highlights of my trip over on Snapchat (Lauren_Anne2989).
