Holy turkey, can you believe that Thanksgiving is in a week and a half?! I cannot believe that next week I’ll be on a train and a plane (and also an automobile!) to head home to spend Thanksgiving with my family in Buffalo. My plane arrives around 1 a.m. and since my family hosts Thanksgiving at our house, I’ll be up early to get started on the feast! I know turkey is always the star of Thanksgiving but for me, the sides dishes are the real heroes. Gravy with a mashed potato moat, mac ‘n cheese, casseroles, all day long. Hard pass on stuffing though.

When it comes to figuring out what to wear on Thanksgiving, it all falls into two schools of thought: Dressed up or sweats/pajamas. I lean towards dressed up because for me, it makes Thanksgiving feel like a special occasion. Though I typically end up wearing an apron over my outfit! But comfort is still critical, especially if you go overboard with the side dishes like I do. One does not simply have just one serving of mashed potatoes…

This skirt is the perfect blend of dressed up and comfort with its stretchy waistband (clutch). Perfect for when you inevitably end up on the couch in an all-too-real food coma. Add the holiday vibe with a classic black watch plaid shirt, this top’s looser, relaxed fit is also ideal to keep you comfy all day. Finally, top off the Thanksgiving look with some sparkle. You can’t go wrong with pearls but if you’re feeling extra fancy, I’ve got my eye on this bib necklace. It’d look great peeking out from underneath the plaid collar!

Since we’re officially in the holiday season, I’d love to know what kind of holiday content you’re looking for. I’ve got a few outfit ideas and some delicious cocktails and bites on the calendar but is there another topic you’d like to see on DC Girl? Gift guides? A makeup or hair tutorial? Let me know!

This is the perfect Thanksgiving – and fall – outfit! Gotta have plaid for sure! 😉 My parents host Thanksgiving so I love that we can hang out at home with all the family. I’m kinda itching to wear sweats lol but I should dress up a little more than that. ha!
