During the week, my day typically looks like this: Wake up, shower + get dressed, commute to work, work 9-6, go to barre, come home, make + eat dinner, work on the blog until bedtime. Wake up and repeat. Of course, there are some evenings where I skip barre to meet up with friends at the other bar or work goes late. Or there are days when you just want to flop down on the couch as soon as you get home and the idea of making dinner, not to mention cleaning dirty dishes, sounds like the absolute last thing you want to do. It’s times like these that I’m thankful we live in a time when we have so many services at our fingertips to keep the trains running.
When I get busy, usually meal planning is the first thing that goes out the window. This typically leaves me playing a fun game of “What’s in my freezer and pantry?” I try to keep my meals healthy during the week so the idea of spaghetti all week sounds less than appealing to me. This is where Galley steps in to save the day!
Galley is a meal delivery service and their motto is “Eat Well on Your Schedule.” Music to my ears! Galley offers a wide menu of delicious, locally and responsibly sourced and organic when possible meals that you can choose from Monday through Friday. Many of the dishes are also vegetarian, gluten-free or dairy-free if you require dietary restrictions. From squash, apple & goat cheese ravioli to roasted salsa verde salmon, there is a dish for everyone!
My favorite part about Galley is that you can order for same-day delivery until 5 p.m. A lot of times at work, my day is not always the day I thought it would be. Things come up, life happens. This could mean not arriving home until later, meaning I will be ravenous and exhausted when I finally walk into my apartment. Knowing that dinner is taken care of with a nutritious meal and virtually no clean-up is a serious lifesaver. And they also have reasonably priced bottles of wine available for delivery. You know, in case of emergencies…
Galley offered to send me a meal to try and (shocking) I went with tacos! These flank steak tacos came loaded with thick, juicy cuts of steak and grilled zucchini, black beans, and corn. Also nestled in the box were a spicy guacamole that I considered eating straight from the container with a spoon and a cotija sauce. I scheduled the flank steak tacos to arrive on Friday evening and after last week, I was so so happy to have dinner waiting for me when I came home. I never prepare steak for myself so it felt like a little luxury and the perfect way to start the weekend!
