{arm candy}

After a recent post on {Monogram Monday: Gold Nautical Cuff},  @Niki1244 asked me about how I build a stack with color. I prefer stacks that have pops of color simply because my professional work wear color palette is pretty neutral. I like having some whimsy in my life and found a fun stack, or arm party as some call it, is the perfect complement to a conservative work outfit. After all, we all need some fun from 9 ‘til 5 : )

So we start with the basics. These are the metallic of the group to hold the stack together. Even though they aren’t as colorful, you can still have fun touches on these bangles like on the cable cuff from Swell Caroline.

Basic Cuffs

Cable Cuff | Monogram | Bamboo

Okay, now’s the fun part! Which colors are you wearing? Which colors in your outfit do you want to pop? If you’re wearing a neutral ensemble, you have a wonderfully blank canvas to work with and can go in whichever direction you choose. My favorite colorful bangles include

Colors

Neon | Wide | Elephant

Finish your arm party with a statement piece that will stick out from the pack…er, stack!

Bows

Bow | Spade | Polka Dot

Think of your stack as colorblocking for your wrist! Throw the rules out the window and be as daring as you want to be. Experiment with colors and find out what works for you.

 Personally, I wear no more than 4 pieces in a stack during the week at work. While stacks are adorable, they don’t exactly make typing an easy task. You can also stash a couple bangles into your work tote to wear later at a happy hour!

I hope this was helpful, follow me on {Instagram} for more arm candy inspiration!

{Monogram Monday: Non Iron Oxford}

Can you believe Easter is less than a week away? If it wasn’t in big,bold letters in my planner, I never would have believed it. After all, DC is supposed to get a “wintry mix” early this week…hardly suitable weather for Easter’s sundress uniform.

Last year, DC was beautiful for Easter and I was stuck inside with finals and my senior capstone. This year, the Capital Weather Gang promises a high of 60 and  I am holding them to it. The problem is, I’m not sure if a sundress and sandals will suffice for the DC bluster this Easter Sunday. The solution? A crisp button down!

{Marley Lilly’s non-iron oxford} paired with {J.Crew’s oceanfront pencil skirt} are perfection for a chillier Easter morning outfit.

What are your plans for Easter?

{Monogram Monday: New England Jacket}

It might just be me but it feels as if winter is stretching out to last as long as possible. March is certainly coming in like a lion but hopefully the lamb will kick in soon!

The wind and rain is putting a serious damper (pun!) on my spring fever. I so want to hang up my {quilted jacket} and {peacoat} for good until next fall but my weather app suggests otherwise. The compromise? {Marley Lilly’s New England Jacket}. The icing on the cake is the jacket in {coral}, a favorite spring hue of mine!

{Monogram Monday: Derby Hat}

I am already starting to think about {Gold Cup} in the spring. Who doesn’t love an opportunity to wear a sundress and a big hat? I do love a floppy hat and sincerely wish I had more chances to wear them!

Last year, I wore my {Marley Lilly Derby Wide Hat with Bow} and I think this year it will make a re-appearance sine I love it so much. I have the light pink and hot pink hat, I love how it works with well, 99% of my spring/summer dress colors!

I also love {ML’s gold stripe wide brim} for beach days or rooftop brunches in the summer!

I think the gold stripe gives the hat a touch of elegance and elevates the overall floppy hat. However, if you are a purist, {Marley Lilly offers solid colors} certain to match your summery outfit hues:

Certainly once we swing into spring you can spot me about town wearing a floppy hat! Stylish protection from the sun? This girl is all in!

{Monogram Monday: Running Shorts}

When you’re busy and constantly on the go, it’s super easy to rely on comfort foods instead of taking the time to prepare nutritious meals and snacks. Yup, that is me currently.

I fell on the wagon in the last couple of weeks and now, my jeans are tighter than I’d like to admit. I need to get back into the swing of preparing portion controlled, simple meals and drinking more water. “Check yourself before you wreck yourself” is my mantra.

I try to walk when I can but being stationary during the day has an impact. I need to get into the habit of working out. What is more motivating than {cute workout gear}?

{Monogram Monday: Filigree Sterling Bracelet}

I did not post over the weekend because a busy week led to no adventures in the kitchen or a completed book to review. Next weekend, I promise!!

Moving forward, Thursday is Valentine’s Day and while it is too late to order anything monogrammed for your Valentine, I can’t help but show this {bracelet from Marley Lilly}:

I prefer the elegant scroll script to the circle block for a bracelet design. Whether it’s in a stack or flying solo, the Filigree Sterling bracelet looks both sophisticated and feminine. You could wear this bracelet on the weekend to brunch or even to your office during the week. It’s a win-win.

{Monogram Monday: Ice Bucket}

Happy Monday!! I am already excited about this Friday’s post so I am jumping the gun a bit and bringing it to {Monogram Monday}.

When I was a little girl and my family would stay at hotels on vacations, I loved grabbing the ice bucket and going to fill it with ice. Don’t ask me why but I thought this was the coolest thing and I got a serious kick out of it.

Flash forward and I guess not a lot has changed because I was pretty excited when I saw this {ice bucket from Marley Lilly}:

{Monogram Monday: Marley Lilly Vest}

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving filled with family, friends and of course, delicious meals! After a brief vacation from posting (read: I was in a food coma), I’m back and ready to get in the spirit of Christmas :)

It’s snowing back home and all the Christmas music I’ve been playing has me in the mood to bundle up and watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Bundling up will be very cozy in this {fleece vest from Marley Lilly}.

Technically it’s for the outdoors but I would pair it with warm pajama pant, a thermal long sleeve tee and fuzzy slippers. Top with hot chocolate and you’re in business.

What is your favorite cozy winter outfit? Happy Monday!

{Monogram Monday: Wine Bottle Koozie}

Thanksgiving is this week and Christmas is just around the corner. I broke my personal rule of no Christmas songs before Thanksgiving yesterday. I couldn’t help it! Stay tuned for my gift guide!

People always bring wine to Christmas parties as hostess gifts. Add a little extra to the bottle and I’m not talking about a ribbon bow around the neck. {Marley Lilly has this adorable wine bottle koozie} in a variety of colors and even prints! For Christmas, I think the damask or houndstooth would be the best choice but personally I love the palm trees:

How adorable is this wine koozie? Talk about a great stocking stuffer!

{Monogram Monday: Cosmetic Bag}

Last week, I was travelling and I am widely acknowledged as a serious offender in overpacking. It’s not my fault I like having options.

I have a cosmetic bag I use to store my make up every day and when I travel, I just pop it into my tote. However, my cosmetic bag has seen better days and I’ve been looking around for a new one. I really like the {Marley Lilly cosmetic bag} because it has two separate zippers so I can keep my makeup and brushes in their own spot.

Which color do you prefer? Pink or blue?
