Last week, DC took a drastic turn in weather and it was bitterly cold. The kind of weather that made you want to wrap yourself in a blanket all day and wonder why you hadn’t moved further South. Layers were a necessity and tights an absolute given. But with tights in the office comes a dilemma: why are black tights so boring?

My friend Mary and I puzzled over this Great Question on gchat and we wondered if any tights aside from the usual suspects, pure black & nude, could be deemed DC conservative office-friendly? At first, I worried pairing black chevron tights with my burgundy heels was too forward for the office but decided my simple black work dress and just a few key accessories (pearls and a bracelet) balanced the look.

The burgundy heels next to the chevron tights give a black work dress a young, fresh take while still looking professional and polished. Plus, those chevron tights really kept me toasty waiting for the bus!

Cute cute tights! Love them with the shoes. And I ADORE the idea of adding a classic scarf like that to a trench!
